Convention moves to the Mercure Hotel, Newport for the first time: tickets available now!
The 2026 Newport Chartist Convention will take place on Saturday November 7th at the Mercure Hotel, Newport from 10am. The speakers will include Katrina Navickas, Judy Cox, Tony Evans, David Osmond, Ray Stroud and Stuart Broad, and topics will include Lady Insurrectionists: Women, Reform and Revolution in Victorian Britain; Chartism and public space; the Nantyglo round towers; radical Newport printer Samuel Etheridge; Iniquity, the forthcoming film about Dic Penderyn; and Epic Theatre's production The People's Fire. There will be a variety of stalls as usual. Tickets for the day coat £15.00 and are available now from newportrising.co.uk
The annual torchlit march will take place in the evening following the Convention, starting at 6.00 from Belle Vue Park. More details are on newportrising.co.uk
